Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, one of the greatest and most popular Georgian football players and captain of the Georgian national football team, has been awarded for being the best athlete of Georgia in 2025.

He received the award at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium from the President of the Sports Journalists Association, Giga Gventsadze.

Kvaratskhelia was revealed as the winner through the annual poll on January 31 at the awards ceremony held by the Georgian Sports Journalists Association. However, the football player was with Paris Saint-Germain Football Club and was unable to receive the award.

The public poll at the Association was first held in 1964. During this time, five football players have become the best athletes in Georgia. Slava Metreveli in 1964, Murtaz Khurtsilava in 1967, Ramaz Shengelia in 1981, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in 2023, and Giorgi Mamardashvili in 2024.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the only football player who has been named the best athlete twice, in 2023 and 2025.
