The compromise on our part is participation in negotiations. We want the agreement to be reached but the main precondition for that is new elections – Khatia Dekanoidze, Majoritarian candidate of National Movement in Isani election constituency said.

According to Dekanoidze, the ruling team and Bidzina Ivanishvili, Chairman of Georgian Dream bore full responsibility on the current crisis and the opposition’s viewpoint about the way out was appointment of new elections.

Dekanoidze commented about the statement made by Irakli Kobakhidze, Executive Secretary of Georgian Dream, who said that oppositional activists were covertly mobilizing voters.

Dekanoidze said that the ruling team led a disgusting campaign. She said that the second round of elections merely represented a continuation of the best traditions of the Communist Party.

“We have applied to Central Election Commission and our voters not to go to the polls and boycott the elections. Neither the oppositional candidates nor our voters will take part in an imitation of democracy which Bidzina Ivanishvili wants to establish. It happens for the first time in the history of independent Georgia that only one party is taking part in the so-called elections,” Dekanoidze said.

The second round of 2020 parliamentary elections is ongoing in Georgia. However, the opposition boycotted participation in the second rounds due to the alleged voter fraud in the first round, and left the candidates of the ruling Georgian Dream Party alone in the run-off elections.
