Kharagauli City Hall urges villagers of Ghverka and Khemaghali to follow landslide warnings
Landslide processes have intensified in the villages of Khemaghali and Ghverka in Kharagauli Municipality.
According to geologists, the intensity of mountain slope decomposition has increased, creating a real threat of blocking the Karneba River valley.
According to Kharagauli City Hall’s statement, considering the created danger, the municipality has provided the villages’ population with alternative spaces in safe territories.
“Considering the created danger, the municipality has taken measures and provided the villages’ population with alternative spaces in safe territories. Despite both verbal and written warnings about the expected hazard, some locals continue to refuse to leave their residential homes.
Given the increased threat of landslide activity intensification, entry to the villages Ghverka and Khemaghali is strictly restricted. Considering the ongoing comprehensive engineering-geological research in the villages, the geologists’ unambiguous recommendation is the immediate evacuation of the population to safe territory.
Therefore, we once again urge every citizen to comply with the recommendations of relevant agencies and specialists and not put the safety of themselves and their family members at risk,” states Kharagauli City Hall’s announcement.
