As a former journalist, I am very proud of the United States’ commitment to the promotion of press freedom. This commitment is especially important now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when broadcasting accurate information is literally saving lives. A free and responsible media is our greatest tool for combatting disinformation and the suppression of facts.
