“We are inspecting every object in Tbilisi, kindergartens, sports complexes, subway stations. Unfortunately, results of poor quality works are following us step by step,” Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor stated during the city governmental sitting.
Kaladze said that Tbilisi City Hall and Healthcare Ministry would cover expenses for medication of the 14 passengers, injured as a result of collapse of the ceiling at Varketili Subway Station. The subway station was newly-rehabilitated. Investigation into the incident is already ongoing. “All the responsible persons will be held accountable,” Kaladze stated.
Rehabilitation works of Varketili Subway Station were completed 4 months ago. “Kvarelremsheni” Company, which won in the tender, carried out the works. Tbilisi City Hall paid 347 852 GEL to the Company to carry out the works.
