Kakha Kaladze commits to protecting Georgia's interests while pursuing partnership with U.S.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has affirmed that the Georgian government is prepared to normalize relations with the United States, emphasizing that such a process must be mutually beneficial.
Kaladze made this statement in light of the upcoming meeting of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where the bipartisan “Georgian People’s Act” is set to be discussed.
“I do not anticipate any significant changes. Regarding U.S.-Georgia relations, I reiterate that the Georgian government is ready to normalize relations; we are prepared to deepen and enhance our partnership.
However, just as love cannot be one-sided, these relations cannot be one-sided either. We will not compromise Georgia’s interests for the sake of specific relationships. We are committed to protecting the interests of our nation while simultaneously being open to friendship and partnership.
We have consistently demonstrated—not only through words but also through tangible actions—that Georgia is a reliable partner,” Kaladze stated.
