Justice Ministry receives 9 348 applications on retention of Georgian citizenship

The Services Development Agency received 9 348 applications on retention of the Georgian citizenship – Mikheil Sarjveladze, Deputy Justice Minister said during a press conference.

According to Sarjveladze, those persons who lost citizenship of Georgia after receiving citizenship of another country have to pass a test in the Georgian language.

On October 4, President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili signed an amendment to the Organic Law of Georgia on Citizenship of Georgia, based on which the deadline for submitting applications to retain Georgian citizenship has been extended until December 31, 2020.
