IDPs Minister: 6,000 displaced families to receive apartments in coming years
“The process of resettling internally displaced persons (IDPs) has accelerated, with over 35,000 IDP families now successfully housed in their apartments,” stated Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Minister of IDPs from Occupied Territories, Labor, Health, and Social Protection.
He emphasized that current initiatives involve a total of 6,000 apartments, including those currently under construction.
“We have significant construction efforts underway in five cities across Georgia. In Tbilisi, large-scale construction is ongoing, and we are nearing completion in Kutaisi to allocate the apartments to families soon. Additionally, projects are set to commence in Borjomi, Rustavi, and Zugdidi,” Sarjveladze noted.
The minister explained that the resettlement of displaced persons is conducted according to clear regulations and involves individual assessments of each family’s needs.
