Georgia gained another historic victory over Russia on the August 2008 war case in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg, said the Georgian Ministry of Justice.
According to the Ministry, Russia has to pay Georgia about EUR 130 million in favor of approximately 24 thousand war-affected Georgian citizens.
The Ministry said the government submitted argument-based evidence and legal position on January 20, 2022, on various violations committed during the war.
“The Georgian government will actively continue protecting state interests in international courts and informing the public,” the Ministry said in the statement.
The Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) passed its judgment on Georgia vs. Russia case based on which Russia has to pay 129 million Euros to Georgia.
