Judo | Georgian national team to fight for Bronze at World Championships
Georgia’s national judo team defeated France in the repechage of the mixed team competition on the final day of the World Judo Championships in Baku and will now fight for the bronze medal.
Eter Liparteliani (57 kg), Lasha Bekauri (90 kg) and Irakli Demetrashvili (over 100 kg) secured victories for Georgia. Lasha Bekauri earned the decisive golden score for the Georgian team. The two-time Olympic champion competed with an injury throughout the match.


Georgia will face China in the bronze medal contest.
In the individual events, Georgia finished the World Championships with four medals. Tato Grigalashvili (81 kg) and Ilia Sulamanidze won gold, Eter Liparteliani (57 kg) claimed silver, and Giorgi Sardalashvili (60 kg) took bronze.
Georgia finished second in the overall team standings, behind Japan.
