JESC 2024 winner Andria Putkaradze returns to Georgia

Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 winner Andria Putkaradze has returned to Georgia. Family members, friends, supporters, and contestants from the musical project Ranina warmly welcomed him at Tbilisi International Airport.

“I’m overjoyed. I’m so happy that I brought another victory to Georgia. When I was there, it honestly felt like a dream. I’m incredibly happy and, amazingly, my friends came to meet me at the airport,” Andria Putkaradze remarked.

According to Giga Kukhianidze, the winning song’s composer, he had anticipated victory at this year’s Eurovision competition.

“My inspiration came from Andria’s cherished story and sentimental moments, which shaped the song’s concept. We created it as a gift for his mother, and it turned into this celebratory success. I can now say that we were expecting to win. I couldn’t say it before, but I was confident that Andria had the talent to fascinate the jury, which is exactly what happened. That’s why we wrote this particular kind of song. I was never worried that it wasn’t an upbeat or dance song. I knew exactly what I was aiming for. I’m very grateful to Andria for performing the song at 100 per cent, at the highest level, and delivering it to the audience exactly as it should have been. I’m extremely proud of Andria,” stated Giga Kukhianidze.

Natia Mshvenieradze, head of the Georgian delegation at Eurovision, noted that the Public Broadcaster’s creative team worked extensively to achieve such a result at JEST.

“Junior Eurovision has concluded. Georgia won. Andria Putkaradze won. Everyone knows that JEST is an exclusive project of the Georgian Public Broadcaster. I want to congratulate all of Georgia. The Public Broadcaster’s creative team worked tremendously hard to achieve this result. The extraordinary project of Ranina, the Eurovision team, and the entire Public Broadcaster group – this tireless team’s constant contact with the European Broadcasting Union and continuous work brought about this result, which makes us very happy today. Andria has made both our delegation and all of Georgia proud,” Mshvenieradze commented.

With 239 points, Andria Putkaradze secured Georgia’s fourth Junior Eurovision victory, making Georgia the record holder in the competition’s history. He received 180 points from the jury and 59 points from online voting. Georgia’s representative earned a maximum of 12 points from 12 different countries.

Andria Putkaradze performed the song “To My Mom,” written by Giga Kukhianidze, with lyrics co-written by Maka Davitaia. The video was produced by the Public Broadcaster, and the costumes were designed by Iza Nadareishvili.

Junior Eurovision 2024 was held in Madrid, Spain, with 17 countries participating.
