Japanese Ambassador hands over Japanese culture/technology documentaries to GPB Dir/Gen Tinatin Berdzenishvili
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Georgia-Japan diplomatic relations, the Japanese Ambassador to Georgia Akira Imamura visited the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) and held a meeting with GPB Director General Tinatin Berdzenishvili.
The discussion focused on deepening the relations between Georgian and Japanese Public Broadcasters. Akira Imamura stressed, “the 30th anniversary is a festive occasion for both countries.”
Japanese Ambassador noted that today’s visit aimed to hand over the Japan Foundation’s broadcast materials to the Georgian Public Broadcaster, covering the daily life of Japan, different cultures and advanced technologies.
“We backed Georgia’s independence and territorial integrity from the very beginning and have been helping the Georgian nation. Therefore, Georgia’s success was our success. We are very proud of Georgia’s achievements over 30 years and its development path, guided by the basic principles of democracy, the rule of law and human rights. We are very glad to see this. Of course, challenges also matter – the crisis in Ukraine, the challenges facing the rule-based order, and other issues that both countries are tackling. Although, I am confident that we will overcome the difficulties together, through cooperation and coordinated action,” Akira Imamura underscored.
GPB Director General pledged GPB First Channel to air the documentaries portraying Japan’s daily life and technological progress. Tinatin Berdzenishvili dubbed the meeting “highly interesting,” saying the relationship between two broadcasters will rev up.
“We also reviewed the ways for more intensive and fruitful cooperation between the two public broadcasters. I believe our relationship will become even more productive following the meeting,” Tinatin Berdzenishvili stated.
