Jailed Saakashvili declines videocall participation at trial without TV cameras, calls lawyer to clarify proceedings
The trial of jailed former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, concerning the embezzlement of 9 million budget funds, has been rescheduled to July 4.
Saakashvili refused to participate remotely unless a television camera was present, prompting him to solicit his lawyer to the Vivamedi clinic to clarify the proceedings.
The defence was scheduled to deliver its closing statement today, but the lawyer indicated that he needed to consult with Saakashvili to finalize his positions.
