Jailed ex-president Saakashvili urges for mobilization to prevent Georgia’s regaining by Russia
“Delivery of fuel into Abkhazia and presumably Tskhinvali regions is a sign and preparation that in the coming weeks, Ivanishvili intends to settle the bill Moscow has presented to him for bringing him to power in 2012 and for his subsequent enrichment amidst the war in Ukraine. For more than 4 years, Ivanishvili has been fed by Russia; he got richer in return for assisting Russia in bypassing sanctions,” wrote jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili in his Facebook post.
According to Saakashvili, in early August, the Russians submitted two types of draft agreements: one concerning the restoration of diplomatic relations and a pledge not to collude with a third party against one another (with “third force” implying the West), as well as two separate agreements regarding Abkhazia and the other region, involving the recognition of their status as distinct entities and guarantees of non-aggression. These agreements were handed directly to Ivanishvili.
Mikheil Saakashvili believes that there would be many among the supporters of the Georgian Dream who would join the resistance movement against this traitorous plan.
Our goal is, at the very least, to ensure that, before Russia ultimately begins to shudder, we do not allow the GD dictatorship to sign agreements with the occupied territories that would be extremely difficult to revise later. Russians hustle to regain Georgia, and we should prevent it. If we remain passive, the current generations will stay in history in a truly shameful way,” he wrote.
