Jailed ex-president Saakashvili praises UNM and its Chair Tina Bokuchava for "not being afraid"
“Only through unity, strength, and collective action can we boldly declare: I am not afraid, and I will not be silenced. I am not afraid, and I will not be silenced. Bravo, Tina Bokuchava! Bravo, United National Movement! Long live a fearless, unbowed, unafraid, and unshakable Georgia,” former president Mikheil Saakashvili, made these statements during a remote participation in court proceedings.
Additionally, Saakashvili emphasised, “Anyone participating in elections is directly playing into Russia’s game.”
“I want to warn everyone contemplating cooperation with the regime or condoning its actions: Don’t you remember what you witnessed in previous presidential and parliamentary elections? How many times can we attempt to enter the same river? This regime will never hold free elections. The only way forward is to confront it with organisation, unity, and strength, just as Tika did today.
Anyone participating in elections under these conditions is simply playing into Russia’s hands and supporting the oligarchic dictatorship. Their days are numbered, but we must resist any attempts to prolong this cycle through various elections or collaboration,” Saakashvili emphasised.
