Irakli Kobakhidze: Official of occupant country was sitting in chair of Parliament Speaker of Georgia, it was very hard to see
It was very hard for everyone to see what was happening at the session hall of the Parliament today, – Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, serving official visit to Baku.
“Russia is a country that has occupied 20% of our territories and a deputy of this country was sitting in the chair of the Parliament Speaker of Georgia, which was very hard to see. Unfortunately, I was not able to immediately respond to the developments, because I am not in Georgia. I requested the termination of the session as far as I was informed about this fact.
I would like to reiterate that Russia has occupied our territories and we underlined this yesterday as well when I took part in the opening of the session. The actions of the Russian Federation have nothing to do with Christianity or Orthodoxy, and what we saw in the Parliament Session Hall was absolutely unacceptable, – Irakli Kobakhidze said.
The 26th General Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodox Church is underway in Tbilisi. The session has continued in the plenary sessions of the Georgian Parliament today. President of the Assembly, Russian Duma deputy, member of the Communist Party, Sergey Gavrilov, who headed the session, addressed the delegates from the Speaker’s rostrum.
