Irakli Kobakhidze: Record freight throughput reached at Batumi Port; first vessels scheduled to dock at Anaklia Deep Sea Port by 2029

“Freight throughput at Batumi Port has reached a record high. Based on data from the first seven months, we can state with certainty that this year will set a record for Batumi Port in terms of cargo volumes,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

According to the Head of Government, every effort must be made to ensure that the country’s port infrastructure is expanded to its maximum potential in the coming years.

“This sector is, of course, vital for our country. It is important to note that freight throughput at Batumi Port has climbed to a record high. Based on data from the first seven months, we can state with certainty that this year will set a record for cargo volumes for Batumi Port, and every effort must be made to maximise the development of our port infrastructure going forward. Batumi Port is naturally very important, as is Poti Port. As you know, we are actively working on establishing the infrastructure for Anaklia Port, with the completion of phase-one project works and the arrival of the first vessels at Anaklia Port scheduled for 2029,” Kobakhidze noted.
