Irakli Kobakhidze - Opposition rejected biparty support with regard to candidates of Board of Trustees
Parliamentary opposition rejected biparty support with regard to candidates of Board of Trustees – Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
“I had the preliminary consultations with the Minority. Naturally, it was impossible to consider the version where two candidates have the biparty support of the Board of Trustees of the Public Broadcaster though it was rejected by the Minority. Correspondingly, we supported our candidate and the Minority supported its candidate. Unfortunately, it was the position of the Minority on the basis of which we have formulated our final decision”, – the Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze stated at the plenary session.
Concerning election of Zaza Shatishvili from the Majority to the Public Broadcaster Board, the Speaker stated that: “it was the decision of the Majority. You know that other candidates also received the high number of votes, though Shatirishvili received the highest number. It was the decision of the Majority and its members”.
