Irakli Kobakhidze - Majority will override veto on Law on Broadcasting
The parliamentary majority prepares to override the President’s veto on Law on Broadcasting – Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze made the regarding statement after the meeting with the members of parliamentary majority.
“Finally we decided to override veto. We discussed the issue with arguments in detail and made the final decision. This issue will not be raised at the free voting, which means that all members of the parliamentary majority will vote in favor of overcoming the presidential veto. Only four lawmakers from the majority are against it. These are the deputies who have been expressing their opinion against the bill during these months. As for free voting, this issue will not be raised for discussion at the free voting”, – Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Speaker of the Parliament has named four MPs who are against to override veto, they are: Roman Kakulia, Levan Koberidze, Giorgi Osidze and Davit Chichinadze. In addition, Nukri Kantaria does not plan to participate in voting.
According to Irakli Kobakhidze the majority believes that changes will promote Broadcaster, “based on this argument the above-mentioned decision has been taken” – he added.
