“According to the Freedom House’s report, the rating of the country has not changed in the field of freedom of media in comparison with 2012, which is ridiculous”, – Irakli kobakhidze, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia made this statement at the briefing held today.
According to Kobakhidze, in 2012 the government had a complete monopoly over the media.
“In 2004-2012, Mikheil Saakashvili and the United National Movement gained an unlawful influence on Rustavi 2, Imedi and Public Broadcaster on three general national broadcasters. All three channels performed the function of the Rupor of the Government and provided the so-called Brainwashing, in favor of the government”, – Speaker f the Parliament said.
“The identical ratings of 2012 and current year in the field of media clearly indicates that the report is biased” – he added.
