IPRM meeting held in Ergneti

The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting took place today in Ergneti village.

Irakli Antadze, Deputy Head of the Information-Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSG), said that the primary topics discussed during the meeting were the release of illegally detained Georgian citizens and illegitimate borderization.

According to Antadze, the Russian military has been conducting illegal borderization near the villages in Kareli and Gori municipalities, as well as Gremi Gorge. Currently, eight Georgian citizens remain in illegal detention by the de facto regime.

The de facto regime continues to demand the removal of the Georgian police checkpoint in Chorchana.

“The meeting focused on the detained citizens’ fate and illegal bordering processes, with no agreement reached on extending the free movement period. Several detainees are awaiting court decisions. The need for a humanitarian approach was emphasized, especially concerning the health of detainee Tamaz Begheluri. The central government plans to persistently raise these issues in all negotiation formats to mitigate the harmful practices affecting local populations on both sides of the occupation line,” Antadze said.
