Investigation Service uncovers 61 cases of illicit tobacco storage, transport, and sale since May
As a result of nationwide intelligence and investigative operations conducted between May 1, 2026, and the present day, officers of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia have uncovered 61 instances of storing, transporting, and selling non-exciseable goods without the required excise stamps subject to mandatory marking.
According to the Investigation Service of the Georgian Ministry of Finance, 83 individuals faced criminal prosecution during this period, with 38 of them placed in detention.
As part of the investigative actions, officers seized 63,852 packs of non-excise cigarettes and e-cigarettes of various brands intended for sale, with a total market value of 387,864 GEL.
