Investigation Service detains four individuals for import of Octane+, bypassing customs rules

Officers of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, through investigation activities in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office and Revenue Service, detained four individuals for importing Octane+, bypassing customs rules.

The investigation determined that the detainee imported 18, 000 kilograms of Octane+ hidden in a truck, through the Kazbegi customs checkpoint for further realization of counterfeit fuel produced at different locations in the Gardabani Municipality.

The value of the confiscated Octane+ exceeds 22, 000 GEL. Criminal proceedings are launched against the detained individuals. They face from 8 to 11 years in prison if convicted.
