Interior Ministry seizes 'exceptionally large quantity' of drugs in Tbilisi; four foreign nationals arrested
Officers from the Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Department, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), have arrested four foreign nationals at various times. They face charges relating to the illegal purchase, possession, and facilitation of the sale of an exceptionally large quantity of narcotics.
According to the MIA, law enforcement officers searched the suspects’ persons, residences, and vehicles in Tbilisi. They also recovered evidence from various other locations, seizing an exceptionally large quantity of different types of drugs packaged and ready for sale. The seized substances include Methadone, Alpha-PVP, Thebaine, Codeine, Morphine, and dried marijuana. Police also confiscated materials used for packaging the drugs.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260 and 260¹ of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
