Interior Ministry issues statement on businessman Giorgi Ramishvili’s arrest
The Interior Ministry has issued a statement regarding the arrest of businessman Giorgi Ramishvili.
According to the ministry, Ramishvili was arrested on 6 July at Tbilisi International Airport.
“Given the high public interest, we wish to provide the public with information about the arrest of G.R., born in 1967.
On 6 July this year, law enforcement officers at Tbilisi International Airport’s departure terminal discovered a firearm, cartridges and ammunition during a scanner check of G.R.’s hand luggage.
The firearm was registered in G.R.’s name, however this individual did not have the right to carry it.
The investigation is proceeding under parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code,” the Interior Ministry stated.
