Interior Ministry arrests two Turkish fugitives in Adjara on illegal firearms and border crossing charges

Officers from the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have arrested two individuals wanted by the Republic of Turkey on charges of the unlawful acquisition, possession, and carrying of firearms and ammunition as part of a group, as well as illegal border crossing.

During searches of the suspects’ persons and temporary residence, law enforcement officers seized firearms and ammunition as material evidence, including two pistols, three magazines, and 129 rounds of ammunition. It has been established that both detainees were wanted for various serious offences.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation is being conducted under Articles 236 and 344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a penalty of up to 11 years’ imprisonment.
