Interior Minister marks Firefighter-Rescuer Day: You are ready to risk your lives to save others
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, has congratulated firefighter-rescuers on their professional day. During an official ceremony, the Minister presented awards to personnel in recognition of exceptional bravery and dedication.
Sulkhan Tamazashvili addressed the firefighter-rescuers during the event:
“I wish you a very happy professional day. You are the individuals who, day in and day out, stand ready to risk your own lives to save others. This is true heroism. Your profession demands extraordinary professionalism, courage, and dedication. I want to thank you for this loyalty and devotion, which you give so selflessly to your country and homeland.
Naturally, I must also extend my gratitude to your families, who share the heavy burdens that come with your daily duties. As Minister of Internal Affairs, I promise you that I will do everything within my power to ensure you have decent working conditions and that the hard work, dedication, and self-sacrifice you give daily for your country are fully valued. Once again, happy professional day, thank you, and I wish you every success,” Sulkhan Tamazashvili stated.
The Head of the Emergency Management Service, Teimuraz Mgebrishvili, also addressed the firefighter-rescuers, offering his congratulations on their professional day.
The event marking Firefighter-Rescuer Day was hosted at the base of the Service’s Main Special Situations Response Division. Personnel from various structural units of the Emergency Management Service paraded before the Minister alongside firefighting and rescue vehicles and specialised equipment.
As part of the event, live firefighting and rescue simulations were conducted. These included responses to urban fires, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incidents, casualty evacuations, and various types of rescue operations.
An exhibition was also held showcasing the headquarters and specialised equipment of the Emergency Management Service’s UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG). The display shows the capabilities and equipment the service uses in international firefighting and rescue operations.
