Intergovernmental Commission of Georgia-Hungary Economic Cooperation holds sitting

An Intergovernmental Commission of Georgia-Hungary economic cooperation held the 5th sitting in Budapest. Deputy Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze headed the meeting on Georgia’s part.

State Secretary at the Hungarian Ministry of Defence Tamash Varga chaired the Hungarian side. A protocol was signed at the end of the sitting. Cooperation intensification prospects in trade, investments, tourism, agriculture, environment, energy sector, transport, communications, education, culture and innovations were discussed at the meeting.

It was noted that despite Covid pandemic, Georgia-Hungary trade turnover increased by 12 % in 2021, while in the last 9 months of 2022 – by 17%. Export of Georgian products on the Hungarian market went up by 1.5 times. The Georgian side stressed the significance of the 10-year operation of the Hungarian low-cost air company Wizz Air.
