Infrastructure Minister views local population as primary beneficiary of Kvesheti-Kobi project; says road is being built for Georgia, Georgian citizens

“The Kvesheti-Kobi road is of strategic significance for Georgia and one of the most complex and interesting projects in terms of engineering,” said Revaz Sokhadze, Georgian Minister of Infrastructure.

According to the Minister, upon completion of the project, the travel time from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda will be reduced to approximately one and a half hours, travel towards Gudauri will be significantly improved, and the project will facilitate the further development of the country’s transit role.

Revaz Sokhadze named the local population as the primary beneficiary of the Kvesheti-Kobi project and emphasized that society had to be informed about the progress of the project, timeframe, quality of works and obstructive factors.

He stressed the construction of a 166-meter-high arch bridge within the framework of the project.

“This is a unique engineering structure—a 166-meter-high arch bridge with no counterpart in the region. When implementing a project of such scale and complexity, constant monitoring and a timely response to any issues that arise are of particular importance,” he stated.
