Infrastructure Minister holds meeting with Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure

During his official visit to Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, Georgian Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze met with Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

The two ministers underscored the enduring partnership between Türkiye and Georgia, emphasising its strategic importance for the development of both neighbouring nations. They explored opportunities and prospects for deepening cooperation between their respective agencies, including sharing expertise in managing infrastructure projects.

The Turkish Minister expressed gratitude to Georgia for its sincere cooperation during the search and rescue operations following the crash of a Turkish Air Force cargo plane that resulted in the loss of people on board. He remarked that acts of friendship and brotherhood are most evident in such challenging circumstances.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu highlighted Türkiye and Georgia’s strategically important geographical positioning and their pivotal roles within the Middle Corridor. He also noted the growing trade relations between the two countries. Expressing satisfaction with the Georgian delegation’s visit to key infrastructure sites, he conveyed his desire and readiness to strengthen collaboration between the ministries and implement projects vital for mutual development.

In response, Georgian Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and the opportunity to visit various infrastructure facilities. He emphasised that the relationship between Georgia and Türkiye transcends mere good neighbourliness, representing a bond rooted in genuine friendship. Sokhadze also expressed hope that Türkiye would actively support Georgia through experience sharing, which he believes will be highly beneficial.

Sokhadze further noted that there is a clear outlook for joint initiatives in the development of road infrastructure.

“With determination and mutual will, we can achieve many positive outcomes for our countries and the entire region,” Sokhadze stated.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Giorgi Koberidze, Chairman of the Roads Department of Georgia Levan Darakhveli, and his deputies.
