Georgian MPs echoed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent statement, saying Russia has been “dragging” Georgia and Belarus “into a state of lawlessness in different ways.”
Opposition MP Khatia Dekanoidze: “Zelenskyy said there would be either peace with NATO or war/occupation with Russia. He did not mention Georgia in the context of Belarus. He stressed security, noting that Georgia is also suffering under the occupation. NATO membership is the solution. NATO, he added, is peace! Propaganda already makes interpretations.”
UNM’s Levan Bezhashvili: “When the whole world is engaged in solidarity with Ukraine and helping it to restore its territorial integrity, Georgia represents the Russian Federation’s interests. Naturally, this should raise concerns both inside and outside the country.”
Georgian Dream’s Gia Volski: “It is unfortunate that he [Zelenskyy] cannot distinguish between the country in which Russia has deployed nuclear weapons and is preparing for war and the country which made decisions to hand Russia over to the Hague Tribunal and withdraw Russia from international forums. If you can’t discern the difference, it’s a sign of a prejudiced mindset geared at helping the opposition’s desire for a revolution in Georgia, so that Georgia becomes embroiled in conflicts.”
