Ilia Topuria meets Donald Trump at White House alongside UFC fighters
Ilia Topuria, along with other UFC fighters, met with the US President Donald Trump at the White House.
The US President hosted fighters who are set to participate in the UFC event scheduled for June 15 at the White House. The tournament will mark the 250th anniversary of US independence.
Topuria is expected to face Justin Gaethje in a bout for the UFC lightweight division (70 kg) title.
“I am grateful that we are given the opportunity to hold the biggest event in the sport’s history. I also want to thank God for giving us the opportunity how it feels to be in the Oval Office, and so it is going to be amazing,” Topuria told Trump during the meeting.
Trump responded by saying, “Ilia — about whom they say that no one is stronger than him.”
“I never thought you would be so kind,” Topuria replied.
“They have a false image,” Trump answered.
The US President also asked Topuria about the upcoming fight: “Do you know your opponent well? Do you feel good? What are the chances of winning?”
“I know him, he’s a very strong opponent. I feel very good. I have full confidence, 100 percent. He has full confidence too, so it will be a great fight,” Topuria said.

The 29-year-old Topuria is a two-division UFC champion. In February 2024, he defeated Alexander Volkanovski to win the featherweight title. In June 2025, he became lightweight champion after defeating Charles Oliveira.
Gaethje, 37, currently holds the interim title in the division.
