Trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan is growing every year and the volume of Azerbaijani investments in Georgia is in the first place, which indicates the best investment climate in the country, – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the face-to-face meeting with Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The President of Azerbaijan underlined the importance of the Prime Minister’s visit and the high level of bilateral relations.

“Dear Prime Minister, welcome to Azerbaijan. I am sure your visit will contribute to the development of Georgia-Azerbaijan relations. We successfully cooperate in different fields. I’m glad that trade turnover is growing; Azerbaijan is a leader in terms of investing in Georgia. We have maintained this position since 2012. This is indicative of the best investment climate in your country. This also indicates that our relationship is at the high level. Of course, we are linked with many projects of global importance, one of which is Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project, which was opened in October. This year, the project of TANAP – South Gas Corridor will promote our cooperation to a higher level”, – said the Azerbaijani President.

The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for warm welcome. He emphasized the dynamics of economic relations between the two countries.

“A visit to Azerbaijan is always a special event for us, since Azerbaijan is special strategic partner of Georgia. We are very happy that economic relations of our countries are developing. Last year was marked by a significant increase in bilateral trade-economic relations. Azerbaijan is the number first investment partner of Georgia. I would like to add that the recent statistical data showed that Azerbaijan is in the first place according to the number of visitors as well, which is very good. The strategic projects that you mentioned – Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project and South Gas Corridor are of utmost importance for our country in terms of economic or geostrategic”, said Kvirikashvili.

The face-to-face meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has been held at the Zagulba palace today.
