Hungarian FM: Georgia will strengthen EU, closer negotiations more beneficial than with Ukraine

The situation is clear: Georgia will strengthen the European Union, and closer negotiations with Georgia will be far more beneficial than with Ukraine, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said at a press conference with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.

Szijjártó also expressed gratitude for Georgia’s ongoing cooperation.

“We believe the European Union is making a big mistake by considering distancing Georgia from the EU. From our perspective, Georgia will strengthen the Union, and closer negotiations with Georgia will be more beneficial than with Ukraine. Ukraine will not weaken the EU, but it may pose risks due to low-quality grain and other products. Thank you very much for your reliable cooperation and your support for our sovereignty. I want to assure you that as long as Hungary has a sovereign government, Hungary and Georgia will continue to maintain mutually respectful cooperation,” Szijjártó said.
