Health Minister visits victims of Gomi Mountain road accident
Georgia’s Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze visited hospitals late at night to check on people injured in the road accident on Gomi Mountain.
Emergency medical crews transported the injured to medical facilities in Batumi and Chkhorotsku.
At present, 11 patients are being treated at Batumi Republican Hospital.
Four people were killed and around 20 injured in the accident, which occurred the previous day. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a passenger minibus was traveling from Gomi Mountain toward Ozurgeti when it veered off the road and crashed. The ministry said the fatalities were foreign nationals.
An investigation has been launched under Article 276 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which concerns violations of traffic or vehicle operation rules resulting in the death of two or more people.
