Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze said there is no apparent need to take measures regarding the alleged spread of Black Plague in Russia.

According to the Minister, if there is urgent necessity, Georgia will be ready to protect its population from risks.

Mikheil Sarjveladze said the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) was studying the information and actively monitoring ongoing developments.

“The World Health Organization serves as the primary source of information. Based on this information, I can state that there are no grounds for panic or unfounded alarm. There is no need to take measures. No recommendations issued. The collected data is far from Georgia.

Taking into account all factors regarding the intensity of movement, there is no clear indication to take specific measures. Naturally, should such a need arise, we are immediately prepared to take any action necessary to protect the population of Georgia from such risks,” he said.
