Health Minister: 23,000 employed under govt's socially vulnerable employment program
About 23,000 people have been employed under the government’s public employment programme for socially vulnerable citizens, Georgian Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili told MPs on Friday.
61,000 socially vulnerable citizens addressed the Health Ministry for consultations over the programme since March 1, with 27,800 expressing readiness to work, Azarashvili went on.
More than 3,000 people have chosen jobs in the open labour market; 4,300 socially vulnerable individuals said they were involved in informal economic activities and expressed a desire to make them formal. About 600 people requested professional training and will be offered jobs after completing it, the Minister stated.
He added that 23,000 of 61,000 socially vulnerable citizens declined or refrained from employment.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced the said programme for socially vulnerable citizens in February 2022.
