Head of Iashvili Children Hospital: Hong Kong flu circulates in Georgia
The so-called Hong Kong flu (H3N2) has been circulating in Georgia, said Ivane Chkhaidze, the medical director of Iashvili children’s hospital, on Wednesday.
He continued, pointing out that the situation is similar in European nations and that the peak flu season is typically in December and January.
Alluding to the coronavirus, he said the its share reached 9.8 %, “indicating that the coronavirus has not disappeared anywhere.”
“It is possible that the coronavirus will become a seasonal virus like the flu. Unlike the coronavirus, the flu circulates more among children. Coronavirus is not a children’s virus,” he added.
