Head of Gov't Administration meets IOM Regional Director

Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration of Georgia met Arthur Erken, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Government Administration reported.

The meeting focused on migration issues and cooperation between the Government of Georgia and IOM in this field.

The parties discussed amendments made to the Law of Georgia on Labor Migration. The conversation also addressed the employment of foreign nationals in Georgia and the issuance of new work permits. The Head of Government Administration noted that, in order to protect the labor rights and interests of Georgian citizens, specific sectors have been defined where the employment of foreign nationals is permitted, as well as areas where the employment of foreign citizens is prohibited.

The meeting also paid particular attention to combating illegal migration and the measures taken by the state in this direction.
