Head of Government Administration meets UNFPA Regional Director

Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Government Administration of Georgia met Florence Bauer, Regional Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Government Administration reported.

The parties discussed ongoing and future areas of cooperation, noting that the joint efforts of UN agencies make a significant contribution to Georgia’s sustainable development and institutional progress.

During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the important role of the UNFPA in the development of state policy documents on human rights protection. Attention was also given to the efforts of the Government of Georgia in protecting and empowering women’s rights.

The discussion also covered the country’s demographic situation and the steps needed to address related challenges, including the development of relevant policy documents and the implementation of legislative changes.

It was noted that Georgia has made significant progress in implementing its Human Rights Action Plan.

The meeting also reaffirmed the strong partnership within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2026-2030), which is aligned with national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
