Today, half of the world lets Russian cargo pass through their territories. We control it like others. The answer is simple, said Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze.

Kobakhidze also remarked on the reports from Ukraine on sanctioned goods smuggling through Georgia.

“When fake information is spread, it must be responded by the truth. This is the only step that needs to be taken in this case. Proof may be presented as to what happened, but what did not happen cannot be proved. This is a reality. Today, half of the world lets Russian cargo pass through their territories. We control it like others, the answer is simple,” Kobakhidze said.

Recently, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine announced that Russia was creating channels for smuggling military and other products under sanctions, which would pass through the territory of Georgia with the consent of the government.
