GWP: Pumping stations halted by nationwide blackout; water disruption expected in Tbilisi and Rustavi

The automatic shutdown of pumping stations caused by the nationwide power outage may lead to water supply interruptions or reduced pressure for residents in parts of Tbilisi and Rustavi, Georgian Water and Power (GWP) has announced.

“We regret to inform you that following the nationwide loss of electricity, Georgian Water and Power pumping stations automatically ceased operating,” the company stated.

“As a consequence, residents in certain areas of Tbilisi and Rustavi may experience temporary water supply restrictions or low water pressure.

Our technical teams are currently working in emergency mode. Full water service will be restored as soon as power is re-established to GWP pumping stations,” the company has said.
