GWP issues notice on temporary water supply cutoffs across parts of Tbilisi and Mtskheta

Georgian Water and Power (GWP) issued a notice on planned temporary water supply disruptions due to essential technical works on a major supply pipeline.

As part of the Ministry of Infrastructure’s construction project for a new bridge over the Aragvi River on the 26th kilometre of the Tbilisi–Senaki–Leselidze highway, a new main water supply pipeline has been laid. To bring the upgraded section into service, engineers must perform critical connection works.

GWP explained that the scale of the highway development required relocating existing underground utility networks. The Ministry installed the new pipeline section in coordination with GWP and scheduled final connection works for 26 September to safeguard the reliable and uninterrupted operation of one of Tbilisi’s principal water mains.

To launch the upgraded network, technical teams will start large-scale operations at 03:00 on 26 September and work continuously across multiple locations simultaneously.

Executing the connection requires fully draining the main pipeline network. As a result, water supply will be temporarily suspended from 03:00 on Saturday, 26 September, until 15:00 on Sunday, 27 September, across the following areas:

* Saburtalo District: Sections and microdistricts of Nutsubidze Street; Zhgenti, Shavgulidze, Mindeli, Politkovskaya, Pkhakadze, Mkhatvari, Dzotsi, Permtserta, Varazi, Tvalchrelidze, Bandzeladze, Zartsemi, Tabidze, Kvemo Azhara, Kapaneli, Zaalishvili, Abkhaidze, Kvachadze, Bitsadze, Kedari, Sasha Ioseliani, St Basilisko, Anjaparidze, Nadiradze, Shavishvili, Mamasakhlisov, Topuria, Picasso, and Kavtaradze streets; sections of Universiteti and Danelia streets; Akaki Gelovani Street; and the villages of Tkhinvala and Lisi.
* Dighomi Village & Environs: Old Vedzisi village, Dighomi 7, Vashlijvari settlement (Zones 2A, 3A, 4, 4B), Dighomi Massive Block I (excluding buildings 10, 11, and 12), and an extensive list of local streets including Vazha-Pshavela, Kazbegi, Ugrelidze, Svetitskhoveli, Maghaladze, Chokheli, Qurashvili, Sharashidze, Sarishvili, Sologhashvili, Andronikashvili, Shermadini, Khataeti, Zutner, Baron de Baye, Giorgi Brtsqinvale, Aghmashenebeli, Khandzteli, Chiaureli, Topchishvili, Rustaveli, Javakhishvili, Pirosmani, Didgori, Atoneli, Cholokhashvili, Baratashvili, Tsereteli, Guramishvili, Gogebashvili, St Elena & Constantine, Kavta, Theodore Tyron, Beri Gobroni, Z. * Gldani District (Zahesi Settlement): Tsinamdzgvrishvili, Chichinadze, Tavisupleba, Kechkhoveli, Makhashvili, Tskitishvili, Kazbegi, Avchala, Zinkari, Mukhadgverdi, and Reactor streets.
* Regional Supply Points: Mtskheta, the villages of Natakhtari and Tsitsamuri, and the Tserovani IDP settlement.

“Georgian Water and Power apologises to customers for the inconvenience. During the maintenance period, GWP will supply drinking water to affected populations via mobile water tankers until full supply is restored,” the company statement read.
