Group of people rallies against foreign influence bill

A group of people is demonstrating outside the parliament building against the draft law on foreign influence.

Protesters urge the ruling team to remove the draft, since it “might delay Georgia’s EU accession process.”

They also demand the release of Lazare Grigoriadis, who was jailed on March 29 after major rallies in Tbilisi against the law enacted in 2023.

“These processes are interrelated. Georgian Dream has reintroduced Russian legislation in an attempt to restrict non-governmental organisations and media, leaving many people without Western assistance. Tamar Jakeli, a rally attendee, stated, “I believe our society will once again stand together and demonstrate that our choice is the European Union.”
