Greek ambassador: Meeting with Justice Minister clarified many things over Saakashvili's case
Greek ambassador to Georgia, Maria Theodorou, was among the representatives from 22 embassies, who attended the meeting with Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze over jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s case who was denied by Strasbourg Court to be transferred to Warsaw for treatment.
Theodorou said: “Our discussion was very productive and very friendly as always. I think that there was a clarification of many things concerning the situation.”
“We are not doctors. We are just receiving information like anybody else from the media, etc. Our main concern is Georgia should follow the rules like every other European country. I mean respect for the rights of every citizen. That’s our main concern,” she stated.
On May 12, the European Court of Human Rights rejected the request to use an interim measure to transfer jailed former president, Mikheil Saakashvili, to Warsaw for treatment. Nor did the court order the state to transfer him to another medical facility in the country.
