GPB Photo Reporter hands over famous photo “Three Musketeers” to Georgian epidemiologists’ trio
Photo Reporter of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) Mirian Meladze handed over the famous photo, named as “Three Musketeers” and published by BBC, to the Georgian trio of epidemiologists – Head of National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze, Deputy Head of NCDC Paata Imnadze and Head of Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Diseases, Aids and Immunology Research Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze.
Tsertsvadze said that it was difficult for him to talk about himself but it was honor to him to be mentioned as a musketeer by BBC. Tsersvadze said he identified himself with Athos, while Amiran Gamkrelidze – with D’Artagnan.
Gamkrelidze said that Three Musketeers was one of his favorite books from childhood that filled him with positive emotions.
On July 6, BBC published an article “Coronavirus: How ‘three musketeers’ helped Georgia fight virus” by Rayhan Demytrie.
According to the article, Georgia was included in a list of 15 non-EU states the European Union considers safe enough to open its borders to.
Three musketeers are Head of the NCDC, Amiran Gamkrelidze, the man in charge of the Lugar lab, Paata Imnadze, Deputy Head of NCDC and the main virologist, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, who is head of Tbilisi’s infectious diseases, Aids and immunology research centre.
