GPB First Channel recaps 2022

Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) contributes significantly to the country’s creative industry and offers audiences a wide range of products across all platforms.

GPB Director General Tinatin Berdzenishvili said in 2022, the GPB sought to boost the creation of Georgian products.

“Over $7 million was spent on outsourcing projects, accounting for 30% of the broadcast. The new production model that we are currently implementing enables us to play a pivotal role in the growth of Georgia’s creative sector,” Tinatin Berdzenishvili asserted.

GPB First Channel aired the world’s largest and most important sporting events in 2022 and, for the first time in the autumn season, offered two Georgian feature series to the viewers.

On top of that, last season, a new edition of the most popular Georgian online game Simple Logic was released. 140,000 users downloaded the 1TVPLAY app, which offered Teleschool (Teleskola) mathematics Olympiad, with 4000 students participating from all regions.

In 2022, the First Channel produced a renewed visual identity and was involved in a diverse range of external activities and the development of digital products.

GPB First Channel has been closely cooperating with the Ukrainian Public Broadcaster. Several joint projects have been planned and implemented with the involvement of the European Broadcasting Union to back the Ukrainian people.

Public Broadcaster’s goals and objectives are aimed at serving society and each individual by providing reliable and verified information; creating the best product by protecting the national values, and presenting what is important and valuable to society and each person.
