Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) is the Speaker of Media and Culture Days international forum hosted by Romania’s capital Bucharest co-organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and Radio Romania.

This year’s conference, under the theme “Diverse and distinctive: How culture powers public service media,” focuses on high-quality culture projects, diversity and inclusiveness with respect to public, regional and local broadcasters.

GPB Director General spoke about the public broadcaster’s role in strengthening Georgian culture and society, and presented the GPB’s new platform 1tvplay.ge.

“The results of the latest surveys demonstrate the tendency of transformation from traditional onto digital media, especially in the case of young audience. Taking into account the challenges of the digital epoch, the Public Broadcaster offered the first ever free BVOD platform to the Georgian public that is another step forward for the development of Georgian creative industry,” said Tinatin Berdzenishvili.

The annual conference accentuates the role of the public media in popularizing culture and heritage with different forms.
