GPB Dir/Gen: Public Broadcaster always talks to citizens and never takes sides; pressure, bullying on journalists must end

Tinatin Berzenishvili, Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB), declared on Monday that “the Public Broadcaster always talks to citizens and never takes sides.”

“A public broadcaster is a free, independent media organisation that must be allowed to operate freely. It is critical that pressure and bullying on journalists end since the broadcaster represents reality in our nation freely and impartially,” Berzenishvili stated.

GPB Dir/Gen stated that a special broadcast will be dedicated to those who wish to share their stances.

“We are working in a special mode. At 10 p.m., our air time will always be dedicated to those who want to express their opinions. This will be parity-based time.

The rest are technical details, such as who will be the contact person, who will come as a guest, and so on. Our proposal to hold a kind of discussion also remains in force, and if there is readiness for this, we will talk directly on air,” Tinatin Berzenishvili added.
