GPB condemns attack on media and First Channel cameraman at anti-Tbilisi Pride rally

The anti-Tbilisi Pride demonstrators have violently, insultingly, and aggressively attacked journalists. The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) First Channel’s cameraman Ilia Tvaliashvili has been injured and hospitalized following these actions. The rest of the TV crews working on the scene face persecution and harassment. The patrol police relocated reporters from the spot.

GPB equipment is damaged. Other media representatives also suffered the violence.

Georgian First Channel decries violence against media representatives and obstruction of their professional activities.

Georgian Public Broadcaster calls on the law enforcement agencies to promptly probe into these facts and provide a safe working environment for the media, which is vital to inform society fully.
